The Immigration Service Delivery have announced that appointments for first time registrations at the Garda National Immigration Bureau in Dublin can now be booked online via the following link https://burghquayregistrationoffice.inis.gov.ie/.

In previous weeks Dublin resident non-EEA nationals seeking to register their immigration permission for the first time had been directed to email the Garda National Immigration Bureau to book an appointment. With one email address dealing with thousands of queries it was clear that this system was not going to work so it is welcome to see a proper booking system in place again.

It is important to note that this booking system was not fit for purpose in the past due lack of appointment availability, however in circumstances where a separate system has been implemented to deal with renewals of immigration permissions, we would hope that the same problem with respect to lack of appointment availability will not happen again.

Given the volume of applicants seeking first time registration we would hope that sufficient appointments will be made available to accommodate all of the applicants who have been patiently waiting for appointments. It is extremely important that this back log is cleared as soon as possible so that the thousands of non EEA nationals who have been in absolute limbo in recent months, many of whom have been waiting to obtain an IRP card to commence or seek employment, can now get on with their lives with the security of their registrations in place. We will closely monitor the situation in the coming weeks and provide updates when available.

The online appointment system is only applicable to Dublin residents who are registering for the first time. Applications for renewal should be made online using the newly introduced online system at the following link https://inisonline.jahs.ie/.

Persons who are resident outside of Dublin will continue to email their local immigration office to book an appointment for first time registrations and renewals.
